5 Things You Should Know Before Getting Botox

The way you look is very important to your self-esteem. Fortunately, aesthetic procedures have advanced so well that we are able to make adjustments to how we look and also keep you healthy at the same time.

One of these procedures is with the use of injectables such as Botox. However, there are a couple of things that we should know before moving forward with the procedure:

1. Know Your Goals

Before you decide to get botox, it is important that you know your goals for treatment. For example, if you are looking to correct dynamic wrinkles on the forehead caused by smiling and squinting, botox will help relax those muscles so that less movement occurs, resulting in smoother skin. On the other hand, it can be used for cosmetic purposes as well; many people choose to get botox injections simply because they want to preserve their youthful appearance. They may also receive botox injections around their eyes (epicenter) or their chin (mentalis), which allows them to have a more relaxed look overall. Another common way botox is used for cosmetic purposes is to help reduce sweating. If you are someone who sweats excessively and it bothers you, botox injections into the palms of your hands or underarms can help decrease perspiration by reducing muscular contractions in those areas.

2. Know Your Physician

There are many people offering botox treatments out there nowadays, but not all botox treatment providers are created equal. This is why it is important that you do some research on your botox physician ahead of time so that you know if they have had extensive experience with these treatments before. It is also good to make sure that the place where they work has a clean environment as well as sterile needles.

3. Recovery Time

When you receive Botox injections for medical reasons, there isn’t much recovery time needed because it will help improve symptoms immediately after treatment occurs. However, for cosmetic purposes however require some downtime; you’ll probably have some redness and swelling around the area where injections were performed, and you won’t be able to smile or laugh for a few days. You should also avoid touching the area where Botox was injected.

4. Side Effects

When you get it, botulinum toxin is injected into your skin in order to relax muscles that may be causing lines on your face. Some side effects of botox include headache, dizziness, nausea, redness and tenderness at injection site as well as flu-like symptoms such as fatigue and muscle aches; however, these side effects usually only last for about 3 days. If you do not like the results after getting botox injections treatment, it can always be reversed by using another injection (this is called a botox “reversal”). This botox reversal injection will cause botulinum toxin to bind to your botox, which then prevents botulinum toxin from acting on your muscles the way it did the first time.

5. Details Make a Difference

One thing that many people don’t realize about botox treatments is that even though botulinum toxin is the actual ingredient in all injections, not all types of botulinum toxin are created equal. Some contain different amounts of this ingredient than others do, so you should ask what type of botoxin will be used during your treatment. You should also know that not everyone responds well to botulinum toxins, so if you have had bad experiences with other types of botulinum toxin treatments in the past, make sure you mention this as well.
